AP® Social Studies Workshop: A Focus on the AP® World History Redesign

The South Carolina Council for the Social Studies is pleased to welcome Dr. Tim Keirn as our keynote speaker. Dr. Keirn is the Chief Reader for the AP World History Exam and is a member of the College Board’s AP® World History Redesign Committee. A professor at the California State University, Dr. Keirn is the Social Science Subject Coordinator in the College of Education.

Through four sessions, led by experienced instructional leaders in the AP® redesign, participants will:

  • Learn about the new components of the exam, how the exam aligns with the redesigned course, and strategies for taking the exam
  • Learn about classroom methods to best serve students in the redesigned World History course
  • Be guided through the new components of the redesign and workshop their current syllabus for the auditing process. Participants are asked to bring a laptop with their current syllabus.
Registration is open to:
  • AP® World History Teachers
  • AP® European History Teachers
  • AP® United States History Teachers
  • Social Studies Department Chairs
  • Social Studies Coordinators
  • School APIs

The cost of the workshop is $45 for SCCSS Members ($55 for non-members).  Lunch will be provided onsite.  For non-members, the cost includes one year of membership in SCCSS.  Please Note: to receive the materials on the day of the workshop, registration must be received by April 29, 2016.
